Promised Puppy Pics

Well, he arrived a week and a half ago and I managed to totally forget to post anything about him on here. Of course most of the people here see my stuff on Facebook, too, so either way... But as I use this as kind of an online journal, not just to communicate with others, I do want to get them up here too.

To his previous owners (who have 5 kids and are very busy so were thinking of bringing him to the humane society--don't want that!) he was Jack, but as that is our cat's name, and we've been calling our cat that for many years, we figured it would be easier on us if we changed the dog's name.

We call him Benji, because he just looks like a Benji to us. I realized it's kind of a special name to me anyway, because when I was little we would go over to my late grandpa's house and watch that movie a lot. So it works. He's a rambunctious little thing! And, Lhasa Apsos are bred to be watch dogs, so he's pretty bark-y when he's outside. Inside, he doesn't bark unless someone walks in the door. Unfortunately, he has a BIG bark, so when he does bark, it scares the bejeebes out of me!

He makes up for anything he does by being cute. He's nine months old, light brown and white, with a very expressive face. And he torments the cat. Hopefully that won't last too much longer!


We all love him. He fits in well and is calm as soon as things around him settle down! When others are excited he wants to be right there in it. He's gentle with the kids and really loves us all already. The kids have already fallen on him and all that and he doesn't do anything. He's a very good dog.

I will, in fact, be posting pictures of our adorable new puppy as promised to, like, three of you who actually read this. However, our neighborhood garage sale snuck up on me this weekend and I'm currently tending it.

The sale has gone well, REALLY well yesterday. It's been colder today so slower. Honestly at this point anything I can get out of my house is great, the money is just icing on top.

The sun's on it's way out right now so maybe it'll pick up. We'll see. So pics to come. Maybe more for myself than anyone else. :)

Vacation

So in the order of recent events, Myrtle Beach came first. We had a wonderful vacation. The girls did very well on the way down there, sleeping (eventually-they fell asleep about 10) during the night and playing hand-held video games and coloring and reading during the day. So despite an 18-hour ride, we got there without too much stress. The arrival wasn't the greatest, we were all beyond tired and didn't get rooms where we wanted exactly so we were more than ready to see the beach. We briefly introduced the girls to the ocean that night and finally settled in.

Our room had only one bedroom so Hubby and I were on the hide-a-bed and the girls shared the king bed. See? The last night we moved them to the hide-a-bed when we were ready to go to bed. We wanted a good night's sleep before traveling back!

We spent every day on the beach. We had 75-80 degree temperatures with good breezes, which kept us cool in the sun. It was beautiful. We spent every day on the beach and the girls enjoyed the sand and water. We were so happy to get away for a while!

We had such a great week and owe a lot to my folks for taking us and treating us to so much! They really made it a fun time.

"AH!!! DID YOU CUT YOUR HAIR??"

This is the interesting sight I woke up to this afternoon. You really can't see it well in this picture, but she took her longer-than-shoulder length hair and chopped off 3-4 inches. In a series of moments that did not speak well for my attempts to be a calm, gracious mommy, I reacted poorly. We searched the house for the scissors she had used, but could not find them. So guess who got to use $.74 safety scissors to try to fix it?

Most of her hair. I cleaned up a load of it in the bathroom, thinking the (new) dog was stressing out or something. It took looking right at her to notice the chopped hair, as she left some long pieces in the front. I think the thing of it was that it had happened and then it looked like she lost the scissors, too. So I went ahead and did my best to fix it:

Her new haircut. It took a lot of trimming. I had to cut off at least 4 inches all over to even it up. At least she didn't make herself look like a boy! It took showing her that we could do cute things with pigtails and barrettes with it, but as you can see in the pic, we're all getting over it. Daddy came home from his meeting and it turned out he had my good scissors with him. So I did the last of the trimming and it does look okay. Thank goodness.

Well, clearly I have some catching up to do, I have not blogged about our new puppy or our recent vacation. So there'll be a couple new posts in the next couple days.
